Music Conservatory Luigi Cherubini – Piazza delle Belle Arti 2, Firenze.

The Luigi Cherubini Conservatory is a high school of musical studies founded in Firenze in 1849 but dating back to Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo in 1784. It is located in part of the ancient Benedictine female monastery of San Niccolò di Cafaggio.
The Conservatory hosts a valuable library with manuscripts by Gioacchino Rossini and Claudio Monteverdi and a museum of eighteenth-century musical instruments purchased by Grand Duke Ferdinando III of Tuscany, some of which made by Stradivari, exposed in rooms of the adjacent Museo dell’Accademia.

During the conference a recitative-musical performance will be offered by Gianluigi Nuccini (flute) and Ugo Donato (voice): “The Girl and the Bloom’s Breath”, a playful journey in the breath of the flute and the voice.

Gianluigi Nuccini (Roma, 1963), graduated with a thesis on the Chapel of the Singers in the Duomo of Vercelli, and in electronic music and flute. He was finalist in 1991 at the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition in Rotterdam, the most prestigious competition dedicated to contemporary music. His repertoire includes several compositions dedicated to him for flute, ottavino, alto and basso flute. He teaches flute at the music school “Carlo Tenca” in Milano.

Ugo Donato (Genova 1954), worked for several years in duo for voice and piano, in chamber ensembles and players, paying particular attention to the repertoire of the end of ‘900. He currently collaborates with the flute player Gianluigi Nuccini and the duo Gada formed by the pianist Gabriella Chiappa and the violinist Davide Discacciati.

18:30 – 23:30 Visit of Accademia del Fortepiano Bartolomeo Crisofori and Gala Dinner

Accademia Bartolomeo Cristofori – Via di Camaldoli 7/R*, Firenze Founded in Firenze in 1989 the Accademia Bartolomeo Cristofori is a unique center in Italy entirely devoted to the fortepiano, conceived and built right in Florence around 1700 by Bartolomeo Cristofori, a craftsman from Padua serving Prince Ferdinando dei Medici. The Accademia houses a highly specialized workshop for recovery and maintenance of fortepianos and a collection of instruments of particular historical interest.
For those who wish: during the visit at the Accademia it will be possible to play the pianos.
The Gala Dinner will be offered inside the Accademia.
